MEDICARE GUIDANCE
Medicare guidance from a neighbor in the Roundabout Capital of the U.S.
Independent Senior Insurance is a locally owned Medicare brokerage with an office right here in Carmel — not a call center in another state. We compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D drug plans across dozens of carriers to find what actually fits your doctors, prescriptions, and budget.
Medicare decisions, explained in plain English
Turning 65, losing employer coverage, or just tired of a plan that no longer fits — we walk Carmel-area residents through every option, then handle the paperwork.
Medicare Advantage
Compare Part C plans from the carriers available in Hamilton County, matched to your doctors, hospitals, and extra benefits like dental or vision.
Medicare Supplement
If predictable costs and freedom to see any provider that accepts Medicare matter most, we'll walk you through Medigap plan letters and pricing.
Part D Drug Plans
We run your exact prescription list against every stand-alone Part D plan to find the lowest real-world cost, not just the lowest premium.
Annual Plan Reviews
Carrier formularies and networks change every year. We proactively review your plan each Annual Enrollment Period so you're not overpaying.
New to Medicare
Turning 65 or retiring soon? We explain Parts A, B, C, and D and the enrollment deadlines that actually matter, with zero pressure.
Ongoing Support
Claims questions, ID card issues, or a doctor who stopped taking your plan — call the same local office all year, not a rotating call center.
We work for you — not for one insurance company
Independent Senior Insurance was founded in 2010 by Andrew and Stephanie Flittner. What started in Broad Ripple has grown into one of Indiana's largest independent Medicare brokerages — and in August 2025, we opened a newly renovated office right here at 3309 East 146th Street in Carmel, closer to home for the Flittner family and easier to reach for clients across Hamilton County.
- Independent means we're appointed with many carriers, so the recommendation fits you, not a sales quota.
- A real local office you can walk into, with the same team every year.
- No cost to use a broker — carriers pay us the same either way, so our advice doesn't cost you anything extra.

Our Carmel office, on 146th Street
In August 2025 we opened a newly renovated office at 3309 East 146th Street — a $1.2 million investment in giving Hamilton County clients a real place to sit down, ask questions, and get help face to face instead of over a call-center phone tree.

Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to work with an independent broker?
No. Carriers pay licensed brokers directly, and that cost is built into every plan's premium whether you use a broker or not. Working with us doesn't add to your premium — it just means you have a local advocate helping you compare options.
Do you only sell plans from one insurance company?
No. We are independent, meaning we're appointed to sell plans from multiple carriers in the Carmel and Hamilton County area, so we can compare options rather than steer you toward a single company's product.
I'm turning 65 soon — when should I start?
Most people can start enrolling three months before the month they turn 65. Missing certain deadlines can mean late-enrollment penalties, so it's worth calling a few months ahead to review your timeline.
Can you help if I already have a plan I want to review?
Yes — a large part of what we do is reviewing existing coverage during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7) to check whether your plan, doctors, and medications are still the best fit.
Do I need to come into the Carmel office, or can we talk by phone?
Whatever's easiest for you. Many clients prefer meeting in person at our 146th Street office, and just as many handle everything by phone or email — both get the same local team and follow-up.
Let's find the right Medicare plan for you
No cost, no obligation, no call center. Just a conversation with a Carmel-based team that will still be here next year.
